How to Deseed a Pomegranate
- Carefully score the ridges that run up and down the pomegranate.
- Cut a cone shape into the top. Use your fingers to prise it apart from the middle. The pomegranate will open along the scored ridges, exposing its arils.
- Use the side of your thumb to dislodge the pomegranate arils into a bowl of water, gently taking apart the pomegranate chunks as necessary. The water will allow the arils to sink and any stray membranes to float, making them easy to skim off the top.
- Drain the arils and let dry on a towel.
